On one of the missions some of the members came under fire, and it brought a new awareness to us. Until then everything had been quite good and then going out on a simple mission and something like that happens we react a whole lot differently

Jeremy is back home on leave. Every soldier gets three weeks leave from their tour of duty in Afghanistan. Jeremy just happens to be one of the first of his unit to come home. For Jeremy the timing was great.

I have made it back to duty. Yes, I knew all of the soldiers that took a fatal fall on Sunday. When I was back at CFB Gagetown these are people that I would run into everyday, and I was good friends with a couple of them. They were all good people that deserved the best.

We have had quite the interesting week. The 7th of May. Our tanks were trying out road clearance equipment and we were on our way to do a patrol, when the convoy came under RPG (rocket propelled grenade) fire.

It is quite warm over here. (Editors note: the temperature in Kandahar today is 37 degrees). On an operation I usually carry at least 5 litres of water on me and I usually go through that quite quickly, depending on how long we are dismounted from our Light Armoured Vehicle

The last month I have been driving the Lav 3 again which is quite a more stressful job than being on the ground because now you have to worry about everyone in the back and in the turret. I have to look for mines in the roads as I’m driving and I have to try and make the ride as smooth as I can for everyone else
