Beverley Watson
A proud Winnipegger who grew up in Thompson, Watson brings to the position an extensive business acumen in marketing, promotions and event planning. She is committed to building networks between the Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal peoples of Manitoba.
Watson’s move into the host chair will allow her strong community spirit to shine.
A member of the Peguis First Nation, Watson’s volunteer roles have included serving as President of the Aboriginal Chamber of Commerce, Vice-Chair for the Board of Governors at Red River College, Vice-Chair for the Manitoba School Improvement Program, and as an advisory board member for the Centre for First Nations Governance.
Watson, familiar with the media scene, has created and hosted a weekly radio show, Voices and Visions, which showcased Aboriginal role models on NCI (Native Communications Inc.). She has contributed stories to the Winnipeg Free Press, Grassroots News and HUB magazine.
