Finding faith
CBC New Brunswick | Dec. 2, 2005

CBC New Brunswick is on a spiritual journey.

For the last several weeks, our producers and reporters have trolled the cities and towns of this province for stories of faith.

We wanted to start a conversation about a part of New Brunswick that rarely makes the headlines. Everyone is spiritual in some way, and we wanted to know how New Brunswickers are living their spirituality every day.

CBC journalists visited churches, synagogues and mosques. We talked to new immigrants, members of so-called traditional Christian religions and teenagers searching for their path. We asked viewers and listeners to write their own stories.

We were overwhelmed by what we heard. Faith, it seems, is the greatest untold story in New Brunswick. Until now.

Starting Nov. 28, CBC New Brunswick will broadcast Finding Faith, a series of stories that take the spiritual temperature of this province.

You'll hear how parents are struggling to raise their children with moral standards but without religious doctrine. You'll meet Muslims in small, mostly Christian communities who somehow remain connected to their faith. You'll hear about the changing face of evangelism, a dynamic and growing Catholic church in Rothesay, and how people of all faiths are coming together to meditate in Fredericton.

Also, you'll read essays from thoughtful New Brunswickers who have found comfort and questions in religion.

As the series progresses, we'll post the radio and television stories on this website.

We'll also post your email responses to the series. Please join our conversation about Finding Faith in New Brunswick.

Ever since I heard you introduce this subject, I have been pondering what my response would, be if I were to give one. After all, faith means lots of different things to different people. Even close friends will, more than likely, give different answers about their faiths.
