GO Transit bus drivers are threatening to pull over and strike on Jan. 7.
That means the 30,000 Toronto area travellers who rely on GO's fleet of 300 buses will be OK through the Christmas and New Year's holidays.
The Amalgamated Transit Union, Local 1587, announced the tentative strike date Saturday after its executive board and shop stewards met.
Along with bus drivers, ticket agents, office workers and
maintenance electricians are among those slated to walk out, about 1,200 workers in all.
Union members voted almost 70 per cent to reject GO's latest offer on Dec. 18.
Key issues include wages, pension benefits and a new job evaluation process.
