What made Jean Vanier dedicate his life to the human dignity of the mentally disabled? As Christmas approaches, we sit down with a man who put Christ's message into action.

Jean Vanier is a living saint. Every word of his interview today should be written in our hearts. Each of us in our own way should strive to follow his example. The L'Arche communities around the world are homes of love and peace and caring for the beautiful souls with special needs who live all around us. Carole's interview has given us much to ponder as we celebrate the birth of Jesus. Thank you.

As promised Carole that was a deeply moving piece with Jean Vanier. His inner peace and serenity project in his speech and person. I look forward to viewing the interview in it's entirety. Thank you for bringing him into our home so close to Christmas. He exemplifies the message of Love, Peace and Joy.

What a beautiful man. I've heard him speak before and was always moved by his humanity and dignity for other human beings. He has always struck my heart with his candid remarks about his own search for God and holiness. He acknowledges his own weaknesses with complete humility and openess, such as I've haven't seen too often in anyone! Thank you for bringing him into my home, if only for a short time. God Bless you.

As an atheist, I was very much moved by the words and thoughts of Jean Vanier. I wish that you had further investigated the core of his spirituality because his references to the extent that human compassion and empathy are the foundation of his beliefs was indeed enlightening.

Carole had mentioned, in passing, that Vanier was a devout Catholic, but never asked him how his spirituality corresponded to traditional Catholic beliefs. It would have been wonderful to hear from this man's experience how these two frames of reference come together.
