Carole MacNeil

Carole MacNeil is one of Canada’s most experienced and versatile journalists, getting to the heart of the story whether she’s reporting from the field or interviewing a cabinet minister from her host’s chair. Gemini-nominated for her extensive broadcast journalism, Carole has sat down with some of the world's most fascinating people: Bishop Desmond Tutu, Colin Powell, Madeleine Albright and Benazir Bhutto. At home in Canada, she has interviewed the last three Canadian Prime Ministers: Stephen Harper, Jean Chretien, and Paul Martin.

Carole was in the field to follow the crash of United flight 93, the Vancouver floods, and the unrest that broke out in London over cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed. She has hosted numerous live specials for CBC News: Sunday and for the CBC network -- including the capture of Saddam Hussein, the 5th Anniversary of 9/11, and the 2006 federal election from Calgary. She feels as comfortable talking to world leaders as sitting opposite some of the biggest names in entertainment, like directors Ron Howard and Paul Haggis, and the controversial Dixie Chicks.

Carole has been with CBC since 1987. Born in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, she’s now based in Toronto. When not on assignment, she enjoys traveling, especially to places where she can improve her horseback riding skills in Classical Dressage.
