Body of Nova Scotia teen found

The body of a 17-year-old Nova Scotia boy who was reported missing in mid-December has been found in Pictou County, police say.

RCMP were called Tuesday afternoon after civilian searchers found
the body about a quarter of a kilometre from where he was last seen.

Christopher Ray Clarke of Hopewell was last seen on
Dec. 13 when he left two companions at a cabin in the Salt Springs
area on foot, police say.

The RCMP, a local ground search team, an RCMP police dog, RCMP air services from Moncton, N.B., and many volunteers and family members were involved in the search for the youth.

RCMP say a cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner's office.

Police are continuing their investigation.

"Although this brings to a sad conclusion the search for the missing teen, it helps bring closure to the family of the missing youth at a time when families should be together in celebration rather than mourning," RCMP Sgt. Law Power said in a news release Tuesday.

"The family of the deceased and the RCMP are very appreciative of the concern and assistance rendered by the public."
