Liberal women were unbeatable Monday night, with all six candidates winning their districts.
Only one of those women was up for re-election, Carolyn Bertram in Rustico-Emerald. The list also included:
- Paula Biggar, Tyne Valley-Linkletter
- Janice Sherry, Summerside-Wilmot
- Valerie Docherty, Kelly's Cross-Cumberland
- Kathleen Casey, Charlottetown-Lewis Point
- Cynthia Dunsford, Stratford-Kinlock
Progressive Conservative women did not do nearly as well. Of the four women running, only Olive Crane won her district, in Morell-Mermaid. Even Transportation and Public Works Minister Gail Shea was unable to hold her district of Tignish-Palmer Road, falling to Liberal Neil LeClair.
The percentage of women in the House remains unchanged at 25.9 per cent, or seven out of 27 MLAs.
