Sunday Hunters
Sunday Hunters
Watch this episode (RealVideo runs 22:48)
On the first Sunday of November last year, moose and caribou were greeted with a new reality in the woods of Newfoundland and Labrador. No longer were they spared being hunted on the Christian Sabbath.Moose were introduced to the island of Newfoundland in the early 1900's, but the big game laws banning Sunday hunting had been in place since 1863. Contrary to popular belief, the right to hunt on Sunday is more of a nuisance for the outfitters; the change is much more beneficial for resident hunters who want to make complete use of their two-day weekend.
In this episode of Land and Sea, we take you to the Moosehead Lodge near Buchans Junction where outfitter Reg White and his guides work with a group of hunters from Pennsylvania.
