"Our main purpose was to publish and distribute scripts to encourage more productions of Canadian plays. Since then, we have grown in our mandate and membership. We now provide programs and services that support, promote, and advocate for over 440 members. In 2002, the publishing function of the Guild had developed so significantly that it separated into a for-profit publishing company called Playwrights Canada Press.Playwrights Guild of Canada publishes a bi-annual catalogue listing more than 2,500 Canadian plays. We distribute the catalogue to individuals, theatres, reading rooms, universities across Canada and around the world as well as in libraries, reading rooms, theatres, and universities. Members of PUC have a picture and biography included with their entry. PGC actively promotes the production of Canadian plays around the world through the Canadian Plays Abroad Program in conjunction with the federal Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade. This grant has directly resulted in quite a few stage productions world wide. Places visited include Ireland, England, Germany, France, United States, Japan, New Zealand, Denmark and Australia."
