Studies & Reports 60 of 64
"The research is based on the applications of 24 winners of The Lieutenant Governor's Awards for the Arts in 1995 and 1996. The Awards were created in 1995 by (then) Lieutenant Governor Henry N.R. Jackman who gave $1 million from The Henry N.R. Jackman Foundation to the Ontario Arts Council Foundation (OACF) to establish the Henry N.R. Jackman Fund. The OACF was founded by the Ontario Arts Council (OAC) in 1991 in recognition of the importance of the private sector in funding of the arts, and the OACF model is now being replicated elsewhere in Canada. Income from the OACF-managed Henry N.R. Jackman Fund is used to award prize money. In June 1996, the prize money was increased to $300,000 through two annual commitments of additional prize money: $75,000 from The Henry N.R. Jackman Foundation and $150,000 from the J.P. Bickell Foundation."
