"Affiliates or members of CARCC assign their copyrights to CARCC for licensing and administration. All uses of a CARCC member's copyright must be licensed by CARCC. A request for license form is available on this site for potential users of a CARCC member's copyright. Some of the copyrights administered by CARCC are: exhibition, reproduction, reprography, and telecommunication. In addition to representing living artists, CARCC represents artists' estates (see services for more info). In Canada, most copyrights endure for the artist's lifetime plus fifty years. Moral rights endure for the same length of time. Reprography Right: The right to make visually perceivable copies of published works by such means as photocopy, duplication (stencil), microform, or transcription for overhead or slide projection. Copyright fees are increasingly becoming a necessary and major source of income for visual artists. Copyright is not transferred upon the sale of a work. Copyright is retained by the artist, unless specifically and separately sold, and the artist can continue to generate copyright revenue from the work after the work itself is sold or donated."
