"June 2001 marked the 30th anniversary of the ACP's predecessor, the Independent Publishers' Association. In the years since its inception Canadian publishers have been instrumental in helping to create a dynamic national literature that introduces Canadians to each other and Canada to the world. The ACP is member-driven, flexible and responsive to publishers' needs. A council of members plays an integral and vital role in the management and process of the ACP's project direction and overall fulfillment of its mission. The ACP's revitalized committee system offers publishers an ideal introduction to the association, allowing them to meet other publishers with similar interests and concerns, and to get involved in their particular areas of interest. The ACP committees meet by conference call throughout the year, and at the Annual General Meeting reports are given on the progress of projects that each committee is involved in."
