"This new environment, which has been developed around virtual and instant access to content, has considerably altered business models in the cultural sector. The music sector alone has undergone radical mutations as a result of the downloading of works (whether free of charge or otherwise) and piracy. In the publication sector, change has been relentless: many works whose copyright has expired have been digitized and are now available free of charge by downloading; on-demand printing technology now makes it possible to publish on demand; the introduction of blogs; so-called viral promotional campaigns; electronic searches through the contents of book holdings in major libraries, etc. These are all changes that are giving rise to new ways of creating, producing and disseminating editorial content."
