"It examined the demographic, travel activity and attitudinal characteristics of Canadians who have recently taken leisure trips and fall into one of the following travel activity segments: Arts tourists, Heritage tourists, Eco tourists (only non-consumptive outdoor activities).

All information in this report derives from the Tourism Activities and Motivations Survey (TAMS) undertaken by Statistics Canada on behalf of a partnership of Canadian tourism organizations including DCH. TAMS - Canada data were reviewed from an activity perspective to establish the three segments, based on a combination of advice from DCH and minimum acceptable sample sizes. Definitions of the travel experiences and activities used to define each segment are appended to this report."
