"This study is focused on the technology implications for cultural policy and will adopt a definition of “the New Media sector” to include interactive media content delivered over the Internet and mobile networks and interactive digital
entertainment on other platforms. The study will examine certain enabling technologies including social networks and emerging consumer media behaviour on the Internet. See a complete classification of the New Media sector referenced in Appendix A of this report, as recommended by the Canadian Interactive Alliance. It should be noted that the “New Media” term is being abandoned in favour of “Interactive Media” by the industry. This report will consider the terms to be equivalent."
