The Observatory puts Culture on the Agenda of 10th International Metropolis Conference
The Observatory co-hosted a half-day workshop at the 10th International Metropolis Conference in Toronto, “Our Diverse Cities: Migration, Diversity and Change”, held from October 17- 21, 2005.

“Cities and Citizenship: Developing Indicators of Cultural Diversity”, explored the study of the social effects of culture in cities by discussing qualititative and quantitative indicators; it was moderated by the Observatory’s Director, Vladimir Skok.
The other co-hosts were the Strategic Research and Analysis and Citizenship and Heritage units at the Department of Canadian Heritage. Additionally, the Observatory operated a kiosk, which allowed conference participants to learn more about Culturescope.ca, the Observatory’s on-line tool, and a leading service in cultural web sites for cultural professionals. As a follow-up to the event, the Observatory is facilitating post conference dialogue on issues addressed at the conference, through Culturescope.ca.
