"Over the past several decades, cultural studies has become the name for theoretically informed and politically inspired interdisciplinary work in both the humanities and social sciences. While it is only recently (with some notable exceptions) that cultural studies is beginning to find its way into universities across Canada, there has long been an indigenous form of Canadian cultural studies whose influence has been felt around the world."

"CACS provides the growing numbers of scholars who identify with the project of cultural studies with the opportunity to share their work and ideas, and to cultivate long-term collaborators and interlocutors across the disciplines.
Activities of the Association:
CACS organizes an annual conference and coordinate events in conjunction
with the HSSFC Congress. It also participates in the co-sponsorships of
workshops and mini-conferences across the country, bringing together academics
with members of the general public on a wide-range of issues and topics."
