"CIMEC is financed mainly by the Ministry of Culture and Religious Affairs on a contractual basis. CIMEC is an institutional member of ICOM (International Council of Museums).
CIMEC activities: - collects, processes, develops and disseminates information concerning movable and immovable cultural heritage, theatre performances, cultural institutions, bibliographic records and cultural events; - maintains the national databases and other computerised cultural information resources; develops tools for the collections documentation (artefacts description rules, data standards, terminological thesauri, authority files, software etc.); is an editor of various publications, in both classical and digital formats; - provides consulting, Internet services and technical assistance for museums, libraries and other cultural institutions."
