"Canada's heritage institutions are an important component of the arts and culture sector. They form a large and key cultural attraction to the communities in which they are located and are of significance at various levels: locally, regionally, provincially, nationally and internationally. These heritage institutions are important culturally, but they are also important for the contributions which they make to the people who use their resources; to the businesses which serve them and their visitors; and to the enrichment of the society in which they are situated."
