During the summer of 2006, Stephen was the assistant coordinator of the Rideau Heritage Initiative, a pilot project between the Ontario Ministry of Culture and Carleton University’s School of Canadian Studies.
Since returning to British Columbia in 2006, Stephen has been a Vancouver-based heritage conservation consultant, specializing in built heritage research, community capacity building and engagement, policy analysis, and the preparation of Statements of Significance for the Canadian Register of Historic Places. Most recently, Stephen has worked on projects for the City of Vancouver and the Regional District of Kitimat Stikine in Northern British Columbia.
Stephen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Canadian Studies from the University of British Columbia and a Masters of Arts in Canadian Studies from Carleton University.
