Educational Internet Project for Street Kids (Final Report)

"One of the most innovative and significant pedagogical experiments that the Renacer Foundation of Colombia has undertaken in recent years relates to use of the Internet for educational purposes in helping street kids and adolescents to reintegrate into society."

Prev Studies & Reports 13 of 31 Next
"The project is significant not only for the up-to-date technology it represents, but even more importantly for the possibility it offers for contributing to the integral education of youngsters who have been denied access to cultural goods that are, by their very nature, the common heritage of society as a whole.

The results of this initial phase of implementing the program represent, perhaps, achievement of only some of the goals in terms of training street children and members of the operational teams in the cities of Bogota, Cartagena and Barranquilla, where the program's technical supports were installed. Nevertheless, we shall attempt to show that, from the outset, the results are significant in various dimensions and aspects and hold great promise for the potential of the project. We believe that, recognizing this progress, we can move forward with the second phase of application and consolidation of the use of information communication technologies for purposes of human and social development."
