"We have to also think on how to develop exchange programs in cultural administration field - mobility schemes for cultural administrators, internship, visiting bursaries for professionals, etc. The Arts and Culture Network Program of the Soros foundations’ Network launched in 2002 a new initiative called Looking Inside, aimed at organizing an East-East program of placements in well
established and acknowledged cultural institutions of Central and Eastern Europe, Central Asia, the Caucasus and Mongolia for art managers and cultural administrators from the region. According to the original plans the program was to be advertised only once but due to its great success and the enthusiasm surrounding it, finally another such competition was launched later on during the year. Out of 200.000 thousand USD altogether 93 interns from 21 countries were given the opportunity to further their professional career. The program was extremely successful and OSI is ready to provide know-how for its continuation to other funders as, due to changed priorities of the Soros foundations’ network, the program does not operate anymore."
