"Canadians constantly need to update and improve their skills and abilities to respond to the ever-changing needs of the workplace now and in the future. Developing individuals' literacy skills is the key to meeting the demands of today's economy and taking advantage of new opportunities. Reading the Future is a study which establishes benchmarks for adult literacy skills and demonstrates the huge impact literacy has on individuals and society as a whole."
