Travel Alberta Holiday Card Program

The Holiday Card program is designed to help industry communicate directly with a targeted group of consumers. Since the launch in April 2005, the card program has seen tremendous growth. At the start of 2006 the number of registered card holders has grown to over 102,000 and is still growing!

How do you benefit?

The web based Travel Alberta Holiday Card program is FREE to all Alberta tourism businesses! The program includes:

  • On-line access to over 102,000 consumers from Alberta, BC, and SK who are actively looking for holiday options in Alberta on Travel Alberta's website.
  • Ability to customize your offer to target one of the four key buying groups (Accomplishers, Real Relaxers, Comfort Seekers and Urban Explorers).
  • Year-round availability providing flexibility to post offers when it is most beneficial to your business.
  • A variety of Travel Alberta marketing programs that drive consumers to the Holiday Card program including:
    • Monthly e-newsletters to card holders that promote the Holiday Card along with timely travel articles to keep card holders excited about travelling in Alberta.
    • A 2006 Travel Alberta campaign that will remind consumers how they can "Use Your Card' through billboard and newspaper advertising.
  • Web link to your business to facilitate closing the sale and to generate further awareness of all your product offerings.
  • Ability to generate an automated coupon for redemption / tracking purposes.
  • Option to receive the monthly industry e-newsletter for participants that includes tips on writing an offer, success stories and performance measures for the program.

How do consumers benefit?

Consumers obtain a free Holiday Card from Travel Alberta, register their card on our TravelAlberta.com website, and then have on-line access to value added offers from Alberta tourism attractions, accommodations, adventures, activities and events on a year-round basis. Because of questions we ask cardholders during the registration process, we know which of the four buying groups they prefer. This information enables us to show card holders at-a-glance, the holiday options that match their travel preferences. Card holders also receive the monthly e-newsletters with travel suggestions targeted to their interests. We know the e-newsletters are a popular feature as cardholders are opening their newsletters and clicking through to offers and travel articles.
