STP08104-P Fundraising Researcher The incumbent will organize a major fundraising golf tournament know as the "PGI Gold Tournament for Literacy". This event will be coordinated out of the Yukon Learn offices and will take place in Whitehorse. Duties will include contacting sponsors, golf participants, entertainers, volunteers and securing gift donations. The incumbent will be involved in the organization and coordination of the event. A major portion of his/her time will be spent coordinating the different aspects of the tournament such as food, special activities, awards and associated entertainment. Tournament format details have to be developed, planned, and coordinated with steering committees and the Executive Director. The incumbent tasks will include coordinating efforts of volunteers and delegating tasks. Upon completion of the tournament, the incumbent will be responsible for assisting in the planning, development and feasibility of other fundraising ventures as well as general day-to-day administrative duties.
Field of Study: Tourism, Education, Recreation, Leisure Studies or related field of study.
Qualifications: Knowledge of tournament and group organization. Knowledge of marketing techniques. Ability to work in a team environment and have strong leadership skills with the ability to delegate tasks. Good communication skills both oral and written. Knowledge of computer applications in database and word processing. Ability to multi-task and work with constant interruptions and minimum supervision. Previous experience with fundraising strategies, promotion and marketing would be an asset. A valid driver's license is required.
