Nova Scotia Takes Centre Stage in Ottawa

Premier Rodney MacDonald is taking Nova Scotia's story to an international audience, today, Feb. 6.

The Premier will address 91 ambassadors and high commissioners from around the globe as well as more than 20 representatives from the American Chamber of Commerce in Ottawa.

Organized by the province and the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, the session is part of a series of events that will allow Nova Scotia to reach a global audience.

"We want the world to know that we are creating a new Nova Scotia where our products and services are in demand around the globe, and our workforce is prized for its innovation, reliability and expertise," said Premier MacDonald.

The premier is also hosting more than 200 expatriates at a luncheon to celebrate Nova Scotia. Representatives of several Nova Scotia universities will learn about our emerging economy and leading edge technologies, particularly in the environmental sector.

"We have a great story to tell," said Premier MacDonald. "We want Nova Scotians living away from home to be aware of our many successes and the potential we have to achieve so much more. And, we're inviting them to be a part of that success."

The 91 dignitaries will then join Nova Scotia's business and community leaders, and elected officials for a performance of DRUM! at the National Arts Centre. DRUM! celebrates the musical heartbeat of Nova Scotia.
