How to Request a Review For freedom of information matters, a request for review can only be accepted after an application for access to information has been made to a public body in accordance with the legislation.
A request for a review may be sent to the Commissioner on a prescribed application form or by letter. The Application for Review form can be accessed on this site. A copy of the original access request and decision letter should also be included, if available. There is no fee to file an Application for Review.
If a person who applied for access to information seeks a review, such a request must be made within sixty days after the applicant is notified by the Public Body of the decision, unless a longer period is allowed by the Commissioner. This same time limit applies to a person who believes their own personal information has been collected, used, or disclosed contrary to the Act.
If a third party seeks a review, the request must be made within twenty days of receiving notice of a decision from the Public Body.
