GPS Base Station


The Yukon Government maintains a GPS base station for public use.

blue bullet The base station is located at: 2071 - 2nd Ave, Whitehorse, YT

blue bullet The base station position is:

    • Reference System: NAD83 CSRS (WGS 84)
    • Latitude: 60-44-01.4836
    • Longitude:-135-05-54.6443
    • Ellipsoidal Height: 720.724

blue bullet Base station position was determined by submitting a 24 hours dual frequency data set (2 sec interval) to the PPP service provided by the Geodetic Survey of Canada.  Current Horizontal accuracy is approximately 1 cm and vertical accuracy is approximately 1.5 cm.

blue bullet Archived L1 Rinex data is freely available at: ftp://ftp.geomaticsyukon.ca/GPS/RefStations/WGeo/

blue bullet L2 Rinex (dual frequency) data is available; however, the base station position has not been established to sub-centimeter accuracy with confidence yet. Please contact Geomatics if you are interested in this information.

blue bullet Information from the previous GPS Basestation is still available from Orion.
