This large forest, which spans the municipalities of Sutton, Potton and West Bolton, will be known as the Green Mountains Nature Reserve, the largest private conservation area in Quebec.

Hydro-Québec Distribution today filed its 2007–2008 rate application with the Régie de l'énergie. In its application, it proposes an average 2.8% rate adjustment, effective April 1, 2007. The exceptionally mild winter of 2006, combined with lower-than-anticipated growth in electricity consumption and higher-than-expected energy savings, prompted Hydro-Québec Distribution to make a downward revision in its projected sales for 2006–2007. Consequently, the division is able to achieve a $182-million savings in terms of supply for 2006 alone.

Income from continuing operations totaled $1,098 million, or $59 million more than in the first quarter of 2005, primarily because of a reduction in financial expenses. Income from discontinued operations was $31 million and is mainly attributable to the $29-million gain on the sale of the company’s interest in an underwater link, the Cross Sound Cable in the United States. Thus, net income totals $1,129 million, for a year-over-year increase of $75 million.
