Department Of Justice Launches New French Language Website

WHITEHORSE - Yukon Justice Minister Marian C. Horne has announced that the Department of Justice public website is now fully translated to French.

"The Department of Justice is committed to providing services and accessibility in French, in keeping with our obligations under the territory's Languages Act," Horne said. "Justice is a key priority area for French translation. With the sizeable population of Francophones in Yukon, I am sure the website will be a well-used, valuable resource."

The site is among the first Government of Yukon department websites to be put on line in French. Yukon Francophones can now access information on court services and other justice programs in their language.

Recent statistics show Yukon has an estimated 1,200 Francophones, 900 of whom reside in Whitehorse.
