Family Law Information Centre Opens

WHITEHORSE - The Yukon government is taking a big step to improve Yukoners' ability to access justice.

Justice Minister Marian C. Horne will officially open the Family Law Information Centre (FLIC) this Friday.
"Improving access to justice for all Yukoners is a priority of this government," Horne said. "The Family Law Information Centre will help Yukoners to easily access information they need to work through issues related to family law."

Public access to family law materials essential to supporting them through the separation or divorce process is a critical aspect of the centre. Free resources and information in the areas of child support, parenting after separation, and family law will be available to the public.

"The centre will provide the support necessary to enable positive outcomes when parents decide they can no longer operate as a family unit," Horne added.

FLIC will be housed on the main floor of the Andrew Philipsen Law Centre adjacent to the Yukon Public Legal Education Association.

The public is invited to attend the opening at 1 p.m. on November 30.
