PROPEL BRINGS TOURISM SECTOR INDUSTRY TRAINING TO THE TABLE
January 28, 2008 – Minister Colin Hansen faced off against former Canuck alumni and restaurant owner Kirk McLean, in a black box culinary face off to launch PROPEL, a new division of go2 human resources association, in the BC Foodservice Expo at BC Place Stadium.
The apprenticeship programs for cooks, bakers and meat-cutters will fall under the jurisdiction of PROPEL, and will help address the labour shortages within British Columbia's tourism sector.

PROGRAM HELPS TOURISM/HOSPITALITY, TRUCKING INDUSTRIES

ALBERTA AND B.C. TEACHERS AGREE TO LABOUR MOBILITY
VICTORIA – Teachers from British Columbia and Alberta have signed the Teacher Mobility Agreement (TMA), allowing two-way labour mobility for teachers under the Trade, Investment, Labour and Mobility Agreement (TILMA), announced Minister of Economic Development Colin Hansen.

100TH NORTHERN TRUST PROJECT CELEBRATED
TELKWA – Communities and ranchers in B.C.’s north will soon have a new facility to process local meat, thanks to financing support from the Northern Development Initiative Trust. The funding, for Northwest Premium Meats Co-op in Telkwa, marks the 100th project approved by the trust.
