MINISTER THORPE OPENS POWELL RIVER STRONGSTART CENTRE
Minister Rick Thorpe helps three-year-old Evan Dendewicz cut the ribbon for the opening of the new StrongStart BC early learning centre in Powell River on January 28, 2008. Minister Thorpe opened the StrongStart Centre on behalf of Education Minister Shirley Bond while he was in Powell River to host a Small Business Roundtable Consultation and visit local small businesses. The Province is providing a total of $5 million for over 80 StrongStart BC centres as part of ReadNow BC, the new provincial literacy plan.
