The 30th Vancouver Playhouse International Wine Festival features Italy as the regional theme and sparkling wine as the global focus. At the heart of the Festival is the International Festival Tasting which runs Thursday, Friday and Saturday (February 28, 29 and March 1), where you can taste from 701 wines produced by 176 wineries from 16 countries. It's a great opportunity to meet winemakers and taste wines that are not regularly available in BC. Many of the wines poured in the Tasting room are only available for sale at the on-site BC Liquor Stores Festival Wine Shop. Shop early to avoid disappointment. The Italian Chamber of Commerce invites you to a "Taste of Italy, a two-part seminar on Italian Wines and the enhancement of pairing them with organic, non-processed foods from Lilikoi Specialty Foods. Eight signature vintages will be poured and wine producer Dott. Guido Orzalesi from Italy will speak on the expertise gained over centuries that is used in the production of Italian wines. Lilikoi's cooking demonstration and samples of their health conscious food choices will educate you about the Slow Food Movement.
