PREMIERS ADVANCE ACTION PLAN FOR HEALTH CARE

NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE — Premier Campbell and his counterparts from across Canada outlined the Council of the Federation's Action Plan for improving health care at a meeting in Ontario.

NEW DEPUTY MINISTER APPOINTED

VICTORIA — The government today announced a new deputy minister appointment. Effective Aug. 3, 2004, Tamara Vrooman is appointed deputy minister, Treasury Board, Ministry of Finance.

STRONG B.C. CONTINGENT TO REPRESENT CANADA IN ATHENS

VANCOUVER — British Columbia is sending over 200 athletes, coaches and officials to the 2004 Olympic and Paralympic Summer Games in Athens as part of Team Canada. Athletes who are from, or train, in B.C. will make up 39 per cent of the Canadian Olympic Team and 24 per cent of the Canadian Paralympic Team.

VANCOUVER — Premier Gordon Campbell today launched a government initiative on Canada's Parks Day to create a new sanctuary for the province's world-famous spirit bear, also known as the Kermode bear.

1,700 NEW SPACES TO BENEFIT FRASER VALLEY STUDENTS

CHILLIWACK — The province is adding 1,700 new student spaces by 2010 at the University College of the Fraser Valley, and has granted approval-in-principle for planning to begin for the relocation of UCFV's Chilliwack campus to the CFB-Chilliwack site, Premier Campbell announced today.
