PREMIER ANNOUNCES NEW FUNDING TO FIGHT CRYSTAL METH

VANCOUVER — Premier Gordon Campbell today announced $7 million in additional funding and new initiatives to continue the fight against crystal meth, including new money for communities to fight the drug at the local level, a public awareness campaign, and the expansion of treatment across the province.

PROVINCE DOUBLES CONTRIBUTION TO SQUAMISH LIL'WAT CULTURAL CENTRE
Premier Gordon Campbell (centre) joined (left to right) VANOC chair Jack Poole, Lil'wat Nation Chief Leanard Andrew, Acting Mayor of Whistler Marianne Wade and Squamish Nation Chief Gibby Jacob to put a commemorative scroll in a time capsule marking the start of construction of the Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre. The Premier announced B.C. will double its support for the project to $6 million.

WHISTLER — The Province is doubling its support for the Skwxwú7mesh Lil'wat7ul (Squamish Lil'wat) Cultural Centre in Whistler with an additional $3 million in funding, Premier Gordon Campbell announced today.

PROVINCE OUTLINES PLAN FOR FEDERAL PINE BEETLE FUNDING
Premier Gordon Campbell announced the Province's three-year strategy for the $100 million provided by the federal government to fight the mountain pine beetle infestation.

B.C. TO HOLD SECOND REFERENDUM ON ELECTORAL REFORM

VICTORIA — British Columbians will choose between a Single Transferable Vote system and the current first-past-the-post system in a second, more informed vote on electoral reform in November 2008, and whichever system prevails will be the one used in the next provincial election on May 12, 2009.

PROVINCE ROLLS OUT BIKE LANE FUNDING
Premier Gordon Campbell announces 24 bike lane projects in 17 communities, including new bike lanes along NW Marine Drive at the University of British Columbia. Funding for the Cycling Infrastructure Partnerships Program will be extended for next year, helping British Columbia to be a leader in healthy living and physical fitness.

VANCOUVER — The Province is providing nearly $2 million to build approximately 31 kilometres of new bike lanes in British Columbia as part of a cost sharing agreement with local governments, Premier Gordon Campbell.
