B.C. AND ALBERTA CABINETS HOLD 4TH JOINT MEETING
Premier Gordon Campbell and Alberta Premier Ralph Klein, along with members of the B.C. and Alberta cabinets, met in Edmonton to discuss opportunities for co-operation on  economic, education, park management and energy issues.

EDMONTON — Alberta and British Columbia have signed a groundbreaking agreement to eliminate barriers to trade, investment and labour mobility between the two provinces. The agreement creates the second largest economic region in Canada.

B.C. INVESTS $4M FOR CANCER RESEARCH CHAIR AT UBC

VANCOUVER — The Province is providing $4 million to the Canadian Cancer Society to endow a research chair in the primary prevention of cancer at the University of British Columbia, fulfilling a commitment made in this year's throne speech, Premier Gordon Campbell announced today.

PROVINCE RECOGNIZES HARTLEY BAY WITH NEW AWARD
Premier Gordon Campbell visited the community of Hartley Bay to thank the residents for their efforts to help the crew and passengers of the Queen of the North and he presented the town with the first ever B.C. Award for Achievement by a Community.

NEW DEPUTY MINISTER APPOINTED

VICTORIA — The Office of the Premier has appointed Lesley du Toit as Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Children and Family Development, effective immediately. Ms. du Toit has committed to a long-term appointment in this position of at least four years, consistent with the recommendations made by the Honourable Ted Hughes, Q.C., in his recent report.

PROVINCE COMMITS TO $15 MILLION FOR ALZHEIMER'S RESEARCH

PREMIER ANNOUNCES $15 MILLION FOR RICK HANSEN MAN IN MOTION
Premier Gordon Campbell was joined by Rick Hansen and Vancouver Mayor Sam Sullivan to announce $15 million in funding to the Rick Hansen Man In Motion Foundation to mark the 20th anniversary of Hansen's Man In Motion World Tour to raise funding and awareness for people living with spinal cord injury.

VANCOUVER — The provincial government is making a $15-million contribution to the Rick Hansen Man In Motion Foundation to help improve the quality of life for people with spinal cord injuries, fulfilling a commitment made in this year's throne speech, Premier Gordon Campbell announced today.

PREMIER ANNOUNCES $3.5 MILLION FOR B.C. KIDS AT CANUCK PLACE
Premier Gordon Campbell was joined by Jaxson Creasey and his mom Jesse to announce the Province is providing $3.5 million in funding to the Canuck Place Children's Hospice, which provides support and services for children with life-limiting illnesses and their families from across B.C.

VANCOUVER — B.C. children with life-threatening conditions and their families will benefit from a $3.5-million contribution to Canuck Place Children's Hospice to enhance access to respite, end of life and bereavement support services, Premier Gordon Campbell announced today.

COUNCIL OF FOREST INDUSTRIES 2006 ANNUAL CONVENTION

KELOWNA — Premier Gordon Campbell today announced new measures to support B.C.'s forest industry including $10.5 million to promote forest products and pine beetle wood in international markets, and a new market-based timber pricing system for the Interior. Premier Campbell made the announcement at the Council of Forest Industries annual convention.

SPIRIT BEAR B.C.'S NEW OFFICIAL MAMMAL EMBLEM
Premier Gordon Campbell announced that the B.C. Spirit Bear will be the province's new official mammal emblem as he unveiled a new Spirit Bear display at the Royal B.C. Museum in Victoria.
