PREMIER'S STATEMENT FOR MEMORIAL SERVICE IN KIMBERLEY

VICTORIA — The following statement from Premier Gordon Campbell was read today by Health Minister George Abbott at the memorial service for the four individuals who lost their lives at the Sullivan Mine on May 17.

NEW B.C. VISITOR CENTRE AT GOLDEN OPENS
Premier Gordon Campbell helped open the new B.C. Visitor Centre at Golden, a part of the Province's regional tourism development strategy.

GOLDEN — Premier Gordon Campbell and Kootenay-Columbia MP Jim Abbott were in Golden today to open a new Visitor Centre that promises to strengthen tourism throughout the Kootenays and across B.C.

PREMIER ANNOUNCES B.C. AWARD FOR CANADIAN NON-FICTION WINNER
Premier Gordon Campbell presented Rebecca Godfrey with the $25,000 B.C. Award for Canadian Non-Fiction for her book Under the Bridge at a special ceremony in Vancouver.

VANCOUVER — Rebecca Godfrey was honoured today with one of Canada's largest literary prizes, the British Columbia Award for Canadian Non-Fiction, for her book Under the Bridge. B.C. Premier Gordon Campbell presented Godfrey with the $25,000 prize at a ceremony in Vancouver.

PROVINCE SUPPORTS CAMP FOR KIDS WITH MEDICAL CONDITIONS

VICTORIA — The Zajac Ranch children's camp, just north of Mission, is receiving a $250,000 grant to support a range of programs it provides children with medical conditions, and children with special needs, Premier Gordon Campbell announced today.

SMITHERS — The economy of Smithers and Northwest B.C. will benefit with $1.4 million from the Province to extend the Smithers Airport runway, Premier Gordon Campbell announced today.

VANCOUVER — The Province is investing $2 million to help expand Junior Achievement of British Columbia's (JABC) entrepreneurship and business skills programs to ensure programs are available to every school district in British Columbia by 2010, Premier Gordon Campbell announced today.

PROVINCE TRIPLES LIVING RIVERS TRUST
Premier Gordon Campbell and Environment Minister Barry Penner joined John Woodward, chair of the Living Rivers Advisory Group, to plant native plant species on the banks of the Fraser River after announcing the Province will triple funding for the Living Rivers Trust Fund to $21 million.

VICTORIA — The B.C. government is tripling funding to preserve and restore B.C.'s rivers with a $14-million contribution to the Living Rivers Trust Fund, bringing the Province's total contribution to $21 million, Premier Gordon Campbell announced today.
