MOMENTUM BUILDS TO CLOSE ABORIGINAL HEALTH GAP

VANCOUVER — The National Summit on Aboriginal Health co-chaired by B.C. Premier Gordon Campbell and National Chief Phil Fontaine of the Assembly of First Nations concluded today with representatives from federal, provincial and territorial governments and First Nations, Inuit and Métis leaders reaffirming their commitment to close the health gap that exists between Aboriginal peoples and other Canadians within a decade.

PREMIER TURNS SOD AT GUANGDONG-BC PACIFIC GATEWAY PARK
Premier Gordon Campbell was welcomed to B.C.'s sister province Guangdong by Governor Huang Huahua on the final leg of his mission to Asia. Premier Campbell previously met with Governor Huang during his visit to B.C. last fall.

GUANGZHOU — Premier Gordon Campbell helped celebrate British Columbia's special relationship with its sister province in China by turning the sod today on the Guangdong-British Columbia Pacific Gateway Park, which will also serve as a showcase for outdoor wood products from B.C.

PREMIER BETS ON THE LIONS FOR GREY CUP VICTORY

SHANGHAI — Although he's on a trade mission to Asia, Premier Gordon Campbell said today he will be cheering for the BC Lions on Sunday and has bet Quebec Premier Jean Charest a case of B.C. wine that the Lions will claim their fifth Grey Cup by defeating the Montreal Alouettes in the CFL championship game in Winnipeg.

WAR HERO'S PIPES RECEIVED IN CEREMONY AT LEGISLATURE
Premier Gordon Campbell joined Speaker Bill Barisoff and representatives of the Canadian Club, The Canadian Scottish Regiment (Princess Mary's) and the Richardson Family for a ceremony celebrating the repatriation of the bagpipes of James Richardson, VC.

VICTORIA — The bagpipes of James Richardson, the only Canadian piper to be awarded the Victoria Cross, were received by Premier Gordon Campbell and Speaker Bill Barisoff at a special ceremony on the steps of the B.C. legislature, where they will be placed on public display.
