KICKING HORSE CANYON UPGRADE PROJECT
Premier Gordon Campbell and Transportation Minister Kevin Falcon met with workers upgrading the Trans-Canada Highway through the Kicking Horse Canyon, the largest highway upgrade project in the Province.

GOLDEN — Premier Gordon Campbell acknowledged the contribution of the 250 workers involved in the Kicking Horse Canyon Project after touring the second phase of the upgrade being done to one of the most dangerous and most important stretches of the Trans-Canada Highway in B.C.

OFFICIAL OPENING OF EXPANSION AND UPGRADE TO EAST KOOTENAY REGIONAL HOSPITAL
Premier Gordon Campbell was joined by Health Minister George Abbott, East Kootenay MLA Bill Bennett and community representatives to officially open the $32-million expansion and upgrade to East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook.

CRANBROOK — Premier Gordon Campbell today officially opened the doors of a $32-million renovation project at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital (EKRH), to provide patients with a new emergency department, ambulatory care centre and front entrance.

ANNUAL RAISE-A-READER CAMPAIGN
Premier Gordon Campbell took to the streets of Vancouver to support the annual Raise-a-Reader campaign. The Province is matching donations raised by the annual campaign to support children and family literacy programs across B.C.

PREMIER LAUNCHES CONVERSATION ON HEALTH
Premier Gordon Campbell launched the provincewide Conversation on Health, which will seek input and ideas from British Columbians on how to sustain the public health care system to ensure it can meet the needs of future generations.

VANCOUVER — Premier Gordon Campbell today called on all British Columbians to take an active role in helping to shape the future of the health system by joining the Conversation on Health. These historic provincewide conversations will ensure that, within the framework of the Canada Health Act, needed programs and services are there for generations to come.

PREMIER WELCOMES THE DALAI LAMA

Premier Gordon Campbell hosted a luncheon with His Holiness the Dalai Lama on September 10, 2006. They discussed the importance of compassion and dialogue, as well as the proposed Dalai Lama Centre for Peace and Education. The centre will be located in Vancouver and will be the world's first educational centre in his name.

PREMIER OFFICIALLY OPENS SURREY KABADDI STADIUM

Premier Gordon Campbell officially opened the new Kabaddi stadium in Surrey on September 9, 2006. The Province provided $250,000 to build the 1,400 seat stadium which was custom built for the sport.

SFU SURREY CAMPUS OPENS
Premier Gordon Campbell, a Simon Fraser University alumnus, helped open the new SFU Surrey campus, which was made possible through $70 million in funding from the Province.

PROVINCE TO MATCH FUNDING FOR RAISE-A-READER CAMPAIGN
