CURLING VENUE GROUNDBREAKING

Premier Campbell joined Vancouver Mayor Sam Sullivan, VANOC chair Jack Poole, representatives of the Four Host First Nations, and other dignitaries for the official groundbreaking of the Hillcrest Curling Venue on February 23, 2007. The venue will host both curling and wheelchair curling events during the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

RAISING OF THE OLYMPIC AND PARALYMPIC FLAGS
Premier Gordon Campbell was joined by Minister Responsible for the Olympics Colin Hansen and B.C. paralympic skier Carly Grigg to raise the Olympic and Paralympic flags in front of the provincial legislature in Victoria. The event marked the three-year countdown to the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

VICTORIA — The official flags for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games were raised outside the legislature in Victoria this afternoon by Premier Gordon Campbell, who was joined by Speaker Bill Barisoff, Colin Hansen, Minister Responsible for the Olympics, John Furlong, VANOC CEO, and local B.C. athletes.
