MAJOR ST. MARY'S HOSPITAL EXPANSION GETS GREEN LIGHT

SECHELT — Sunshine Coast residents will benefit from the first major expansion of St. Mary's Hospital in almost two decades, worth an estimated $39.75 million, Premier Gordon Campbell announced.

NON-FICTION PRIZE RISES TO $40,000; SUBMISSIONS SOUGHT

VANCOUVER — One of the largest prizes in Canadian writing has just grown even larger. The value of the British Columbia Award for Canadian Non-Fiction has been increased by more than half — to $40,000 from $25,000 — making it the richest literary non-fiction prize in Canada.

ASIA PACIFIC TRADE COUNCIL PRESENTS FOURTH REPORT
On June 18, Premier Campbell received the Asia Pacific Trade Council's fourth report from members of the council and of the Korea Market Advisory Group, which prepared the report. It highlights the opportunity to drive further exports to Asia through South Korea, which is already an important trade and investment partner, and urges the Province to take a proactive leadership role in relations with South Korea.

WELCOMEBC TO HELP IMMIGRANTS SETTLE, ACCESS WORK
WelcomeBC, unveiled by Premier Gordon Campbell and Attorney General Wally Oppal June 13, will help immigrants moving to British Columbia to adapt to life in their new communities. WRAPPING UP AN INVITATION

On June 11, Premier Campbell announced a new partnership between BC Ferries and the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Winter Games. Three new BC Ferries that will sail from Europe to British Columbia will be wrapped with a massive invitation to the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Each ship will have giant decals with photographic images that promote our province and our Games.
