TREATY BUILDS FUTURE FOR FIVE FIRST NATIONS
Premier Gordon Campbell, Minister of Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation Michael de Jong and leaders of the five Maa-Nulth First Nations celebrate the introduction of B.C.'s first multi-nation treaty in the House.

VICTORIA – Premier Gordon Campbell welcomed chiefs, Ha’wiih (hereditary chiefs) and community members from the five Maa-nulth First Nations to celebrate the introduction of legislation for Vancouver Island’s first modern-day treaty.

PROVINCE ANNOUNCES CLIMATE ACTION TEAM
Premier Campbell with some of the 22 members of the Premier's Climate Action Team. The Team will help determine the most credible, aggressive and economically viable greenhouse gas reduction targets possible as the province works towards the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions in B.C. by 33 per cent by 2020.

VICTORIA – British Columbia’s Climate Action Team (CAT) has some of the province’s best minds, including nine world leaders in the climate sciences, Premier Gordon Campbell announced.

PROVINCE, BC HYDRO TARGET CONSERVATION IN PUBLIC SECTOR
Premier Gordon Campbell turns on the lights at the BC Legislature in Victoria. The 3,300 lights have been upgraded with new, high-tech bulbs that use 68 per cent less energy and last 17 times longer. The Province also became the largest PowerSmart partner, committing to reduce electricity use in provincial buildings by 20 per cent by 2020.

VICTORIA – The provincial government and BC Hydro have entered into a new Public Sector Energy Conservation Agreement to significantly decrease electricity consumption across more than 6,500 public sector buildings, Premier Gordon Campbell and BC Hydro president and CEO Bob Elton announced today.

PROVINCE PROVIDES $23M TO EXPAND OKANAGAN CAMPUS
Premier Gordon Campbell announced that the Province will invest $23 million in a new Centre for Learning at the Okanagan College Kelowna campus. The new centre will have 22 classrooms and 685 instructional seats.

KELOWNA – The Province is providing $23 million for a new Centre for Learning Building, increasing access to post-secondary education at the Okanagan College Kelowna campus, Premier Gordon Campbell announced.

ER ENTRANCE NAMED IN HONOUR OF SOUTH ASIAN COMMUNITY
Premier Gordon Campbell was joined by Surrey MLAs and community leaders to announce that the entrance to a new state-of-the-art emergency and urgent care facility at Surrey Memorial Hospital will be named in honour of the founder of Sikhism to honour the contributions of the South Asian community.

CANADA-B.C. AGREEMENT TO LAUNCH BUILDING CANADA PLAN
Premier Gordon Campbell and Prime Minister Stephen Harper were in Golden, B.C., to announce B.C.'s signing of an agreement that will bring $2.2 billion in long-term federal infrastructure funding to British Columbia.

GOLDEN – Premier Gordon Campbell and Prime Minister Stephen Harper, joined by federal Transport Minister Lawrence Cannon, today signed a federal-provincial agreement under the historic Building Canada Plan.

CANADA SUPPORTS KICKING HORSE HIGHWAY IMPROVEMENTS
Premier Gordon Campbell joined Prime Minister Stephen Harper in Golden, B.C., to announce that British Columbia is the first province to sign on to the Building Canada program, which will bring $2.2 billion in federal infrastructure funding for B.C. for projects like the Kicking Horse Canyon Highway Improvement.

GOLDEN – The governments of Canada and British Columbia today announced improvements to the Trans-Canada Highway through the Kicking Horse Canyon as a priority for funding under Building Canada, the Government of Canada’s new long-term infrastructure plan.

PREMIER OPENS $12.3-MILLION OPEN LEARNING CENTRE
