Premier Gordon Campbell joined Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Canadian Olympians Danielle Goyette and Melissa Hollingsworth-Richards to announce the federal and provincial governments will each provide $55 million in additional funding to support the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

ANNOUNCEMENT OF ALCAN INVESTMENT IN KITIMAT

VANCOUVER — Alcan's announcement that it plans to invest $2 billion to upgrade its Kitimat smelter with modern and more efficient technology highlights B.C.'s international competitiveness, and this investment will serve as an important basis for continued economic prosperity in B.C.'s Northwest, Premier Gordon Campbell said today.
