Online Databases


Infotrac and Patron Books in Print are powerful online databases free to library patrons that can be easily searched to help you find information on a wide variety of topics. You will need your library card number to access these databases. If you do not have a library card, you can get one for free by registering at any of the 26 branches across the island. Each of the databases is described below.

Infotrac Web provides access to the following four databases:

Health and Wellness Resource Center - Provides instant access to carefully compiled and trusted medical reference materials. Includes nearly 400 health/medical journals, hundreds of pamphlets and 2,200 general interest publications in addition to a broad collection of Thomson Gale reference titles. Material contained in this Resource Center is intended for informational purposes only. Using this Database 

Health Reference Center Academic - Multi-source database provides access to the full text of nursing and allied health journals, plus the wide variety of personal health information sources in InfoTrac's award-winning Health Reference Center. All in a single, easy-to-use database, The material contained in this database is intended for informational purposes only.

Canadian Periodicals Index (CPI.Q) - Use this database, designed for public, academic, and school libraries, to search a comprehensive list of Canadian and international journals, magazines, newspapers, and other references. CPI.Q. includes more than 400 titles with full text articles from over 160 of these periodicals, as well as Gale Research reference data and the full text of selected sections of The Globe and Mail, Canada's national newspaper.

General Reference Center - Use this general interest database to search magazines, reference books, and newspapers for information on current events, popular culture, the arts and sciences, sports, etc. Using this Database

Search the "Children’s Room," "Fiction Room," or "What Year Were You Born?" room, which allows you to search over 100 years of bestsellers. You can browse the winners and nominees of over 400 book industry awards, titles by your favorite author, or fiction titles in a favorite series or featuring a favorite character. Users can also browse by fictional genre, children’s genre, or by intuitive drill-down subjects, such as: House & Home, Travel, Medical, and Cooking.
