Canada Was Born Here
PEI Province House One of the most important events in Prince Edward Island's history is the role it played in shaping the Canada we know today. In 1864, a small group of elected officials gathered in Charlottetown to discuss the idea of uniting three Maritime jurisdictions. It was during this conference that the idea of a larger union and the creation of a country was introduced. This historic event and those that followed led to the founding of our country, making Prince Edward Island the Birthplace of Canada.
