Travel Industry Regulation Consultation Print E-mail

{January 29, 2008} - The travel industry has been regulated in British Columbia since 1977.   Government is planning a comprehensive consultation to update BC’s travel regulation as the existing regulation does not address changes in the travel industry over the past three decades, or the related implications for consumers.  The Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General is responsible for consumer protection legislation in BC and is conducting this consultation process.

This consultation is an opportunity for you to provide feedback on how government can streamline regulatory requirements for travel agents and wholesalers while tightening gaps in consumer protection.   The consultation document and questionnaire* are now posted on the Ministry's website.

Please click here to view the document and questionnaire.

The deadline for responses is March 3, 2008.

Any questions about the consultation process or the documents mentioned above should be directed to the Ministry.

* Please note there is a typo on page 20 Question 3.4(b) (i). The reference to $50,000 should be $150,000.
