    Cette publication aide les adolescentes à prendre des décisions judicieuses à propos de leur avenir. Le Guide-ressources pour filles aborde la préparation au travail et à la carrière, le maintien de bonnes relations avec les amis et la famille, la gestion de l'argent, la participation dans la communauté et la fierté de son patrimoine. Ce guide encourage les jeunes filles à voir au-delà des attentes traditionnelles et les inspire à trouver leur propre voie vers l'autosuffisance. Il les aide à définir le succès par elles-mêmes et à viser à atteindre ce succès.

  • Guide for Girls

    October, 2005

    A new publication from the Advisory Council on the Status of Women (released Oct. 5) helps teenaged girls make good decisions about their futures. Guide for Girls discusses preparing for work and career, relationships with friends and family, money management and community involvement. This book encourages girls to look beyond the traditional expectations and inspires them to seek their own best route to self-sufficiency. It helps them to define success for themselves and to strive to achieve it.

  • Immigrant Women's Roundtable Report *new*

    On February 22nd, 2006, the Nova Scotia Office of Immigration, the Nova Scotia Advisory Council on the Status of Women, the Atlantic Metropolis Centre of Excellence, and the YMCA Centre for Immigrant Programs, brought 62 immigrant women together from the Halifax Regional Municipality area to discuss their views and experiences settling and living in Nova Scotia.

    Many helpful suggestions were made during the round table. A report summarizing the proceedings of the roundtable is now available.

    Un manuel visant à aider les personnes de la Nouvelle-Écosse qui prennent soin de leur famille, de leurs amis, de leurs voisins et d'autres personnes dans leur communauté.

    Vous pouvez vous procurer gratuitement le manuel, intitulé Manuel du soignant : Une main tendue aux familles et aux amis qui fournissent des soins en Nouvelle-Écosse, ainsi que sa version anglaise intitulée The Caregiver's Handbook, en composant le 1-888-658-1112.

    A report on the economic situation of women in Nova Scotia originally released in 2001 as part of its Women in Nova Scotia series.

    The report brings together a wide variety of statistics on women's earnings and income and shows how factors such as family status and women's continuing responsibility for childcare affects their economic security. The report also provides an overview of the economic situations of diverse groups of women.

  • Untapped Resources: Women and Municipal Government in Nova

    Scotia: Report
    January, 2006

    In Nova Scotia, women are under-represented in municipal government. Women make up more than 50 percent of Nova Scotia's population yet only 21.7 percent of municipal councillors (the third lowest in Canada), seven percent of wardens and mayors and only 14.5 percent of chief administrators (the lowest in Canada).
