Building

The construction or renovation of a home or building can be a very exciting time in a person's life, but also a very confusing one. What permits do I need? What if I want to subdivide my land? You will find answers to these questions and more in this area of the website.

Please note: In areas where the Province is the authority for issuing building/development permits, the National Building Code of Canada has not been adopted. However, the Canadian Electrical Code and the National Plumbing Code have been adopted for all areas of the Province and only licensed electricians and licensed plumbers respectively, may apply and obtain permits under those codes.

In areas where the Province is not the authority for issuing building/development permits the jurisdiction rests with the municipality, some of which have adopted the National Building Code of Canada.
